Biography
Can’t Dance is mainly a vehicle built for Garrett Mckee’s songwriting, who pens the majority of the band’s catalogue with assistance from the other members. His singing is aloof, but charming, and adds to the loose care-free jangly guitars and addictive drum beats. The band changes gears from punky blasts of energy to simple lo-fi tunes with pop sensibilities. Can’t Dance’s influences span several decades, giving their sound a unique and vibrant edge.
After months of rehearsing, the band was pleased by the response for their first self-produced EP Comfortably Dumb. Sjimon Gompers of IMPOSE Magazine, was impressed with the band’s maturity, “There is an interesting auditory passing of the torch from the old guard to the new that can be heard if you listen closely to ‘Trust Issues.’” Sites like Ghetto Blaster and Pittsburgh-based Grey Estates premiered the band’s well-received singles after their debut EP. The band was honored to open for one of their modern influences, Cymbals Eat Guitars in September of 2014 at the Smiling Moose in Pittsburgh.

Can’t Dance is happy with their impact in their region, but the band has set their sights on trying to expand their reach. With a two week northeastern tour planned for the summer, the band hopes to reach new fans. “We just are excited to play in new venues and share some new material,” Jordan says. “I think we have a lot of great songs left in us, and we want to connect to new fans.”
The group is set to release their sophomore EP, Hearsay May 5th. The band will play a bunch of Pittsburgh-based shows to support the release before setting off for their tour in the middle of the summer.
